DBLO Associates Architects was commissioned to develop designs for a new government office building, based in Abuja.
Our design aims to provide high-quality workspace that will be able to grow and adapt to the end users developing requirements.
A formal entrance portico and colonnaded facades, visually connecting it to adjacent buildings, mediate between the civic and more private spaces of the offices and inner landscaped courtyard.
Energy-saving criteria were applied throughout the design process, investigating different building formats to assess their efficiency in terms of the site topography and orientation, positioning of service cores, ease and connections for occupant movement between different departments and the use of local materials and building techniques.
It is hoped that the development will become a model for more sustainable office complexes in Nigeria in the future.
