Museum, Abuja

DBLO Associates Architects were invited to produce design proposals for a new museum to be located on the north side of Millennium Park, Abuja. The museum will revive this far end of the park. 

At the heart of the new building, the double-height permanent gallery will showcase historical and contemporary Nigerian artefacts, focusing on important milestones in the country’s security development by highlighting cultural achievements, as well as temporary exhibition spaces capable of taking medium-scale touring exhibitions.

The museum exterior is subtle, and yet the two glass lanterns, that recall the Aso Rock visible in the distance, will give a sense of place.

The building will provide permanent exhibition spaces, temporary gallery, a bookshop, a cafe', offices and an educational room.
