Pews and Perches was conceived to help introduce more seating options across the Royal Docks and to support the area to become more inviting and accessible. It aims to demonstrate how public realm interventions, even at a small scale, can help build a sense of place as well as positively impact people’s well-being and experience of their surroundings.
Afloat was based on the concept of simple joys we experienced as children.
Combining sustainability with functionality and providing a durable, eco-friendly solution, each perch, is constructed from reclaimed materials including scaffolding, and is based on a swing, playfully mirroring the gentle ebb and flow of water.
Perfect for fostering community connections, these seats invite passersby to pause and engage.
