DBLO Associates Architects were commissioned to design a contemporary residence situated close to the beach front in Ghana.
Insulated concrete sandwich panels were chosen to maintain a minimal palette of materials suitable to the site conditions, as well as to help maintain an acceptable temperature within the building.
The orientation of the building plot was considered with a minimum amount of south facing openings, and integrated canopies and screens line the house to increase sun screening and reduce solar gain within the property. The larger openings appear on the north facing walls or are set back under deep cantilevers and from the terraces above.
