As part of a full refurbishment of a penthouse flat for Brooklands Property a bespoke suspended alternating tread stair was designed in perforated steel to allow light to filter through to the floors below from the glazed roof access.
The use of the alternating treads was to overcome the previously non-conforming steep roof access stair. The use of the central fin (or string) allowed for the stair to maintain its open feel by suspending the outer tread edges using metal rods.
